How Acupuncture Supports Your Fertility

Treatment Plan:

  • Regulates the menstrual cycle and supports ovulation.

  • Improves blood flow to the uterus and ovaries.

  • Supports healthy hormone signaling between the brain and ovaries.

  • Reduces stress and calms the nervous system.

  • May improve egg quality and support a healthy uterine lining over time.

  • Helps regulate PMS symptoms and emotional fluctuations.

  • Helps reduce inflammation and supports overall reproductive health.

  • Supports the body after events like miscarriage, surgery, or long-term birth control use.

Even though your cycle happens monthly, egg development takes about 90 days. This means the work we do now supports the quality of cycles 2–3 months from now.

Changes are often gradual and build over time. Many patients first notice:

  • Improved sleep

  • Reduced PMS symptoms

  • More stable mood

  • Less physical tension

Cycle-specific changes—such as more consistent ovulation or shifts in flow—often take 2–3 months (one full egg development cycle). Consistency with treatment plays an important role in seeing these changes.

Our goal is to support your body over time so it can function more consistently and predictably.

Acupuncture can be used alongside fertility treatments such as IVF, IUI, or ovulation induction to support your body throughout the process. Rather than replacing medical care, it works in combination to help regulate the nervous system, improve circulation, and create a more supportive environment for conception.

When to Start

Acupuncture can be helpful at any stage, but ideally begins 2–3 months before treatment to support egg quality and overall reproductive health. It can also be continued throughout your cycle to provide ongoing support.

During Your Treatment Cycle: Treatments are often timed to support different phases of your IVF or IUI cycle, including:

  • Before stimulation → support baseline hormone balance

  • During stimulation → support circulation and response

  • Before and after transfer → support uterine receptivity and relaxation

  • After transfer → support a calm, stable environment

  • Ideally 1 treatment per week for 3 months. This aligns with the egg development cycle.

  • Bi-weekly treatments are also acceptable if scheduling or cost is a factor.

  • Consistency is key — regular treatments tend to lead to more noticeable and lasting results

  • If you’re undergoing IVF or IUI, treatment frequency may be adjusted around key points in your cycle.
